One Great Resource
Press Room - Press Release Everton Publishing
Genealogists use software on their home computers to enter and
arrange their family history data. And they use the Internet to seek
for more information, and to share that information with like-minded
researchers.
Why not do both at the same time?
That's the idea behind the core service at a relatively new website:
OneGreatFamily. You begin by uploading your own GEDCOM file to your
own personal area on OneGreatFamily, then you use the online software
to keep your genealogy file current.
While you're doing that, the OneGreatFamily software compares the
data in your file with data in other files on their servers. If they
find a match, the software notifies you that there may be more data
already available to help you extend your knowledge of your family.
If they find a match in another file that appears to refer to the
same person, but which doesn't exactly agree with the data in your
file, you get an advisory that conflicting data exists.
The result is the creation of a global pool of interactive
genealogical data, with pervasive opportunities to collaborate with
your relatives on your family history research.
Supplementing the collaboration software are a number of other
features: a "genealogy university" of tips on research, family trees
of selected famous people, and a growing pool of genealogy "fun
stuff".
OneGreatFamily has a free area, but to get the full range of features
you need to pay a modest subscription fee.
“...One person can't possibly do all of the work alone. They need help to speed up the work...The only way to do this is with your wonderful service...”
